I am now on chapter 13 in Book the Second. The reading has now become a love story. Lucie is a beautiful women and two men, Charles Darnay and Stryver, both want to marry her. Darnay wants to the most, and really loves Lucie, while Stryver thinks that marrying her will be good for both his own and her family. At this point there has been a lot of foreshadowing of events to come in Paris. There is turmoil and chaos, but little fighting has started. Hints to what is to come tell that there will be a war, and many people will die.

I haven't read that much this week, but I plan on reading some this weekend. I am on page 32, and the author is still setting the scene of the book, providing necessary background knowledge, and introducing characters. My favorite line so far is, "When I enter a great city by night, that every one of those darkly clustered houses encloses its own secret." This line started a new chapter and made my mind wander. Each house in a big city does have its own secrets. Everyone has secrets, and this line states that in a unique way.

I have decided to read A Tale of Two Cities, by Charles Dickens. I got this book from the High School library, and I chose it because it is considered a classic, it is widely read, and it looks very interesting. I haven't started reading the book yet, except for the summary on the inside cover. It takes place during the French Revolution, and is about the feud between the peasants and the aristocrats. The book follows a family during this hard time, and includes a love story also.

Novel Cover and Joseph Heller Book Review
So far, Yossarian found out what Catch-22 is and how the military uses it to get soldiers to stay and fight. Each chapter is about a different character, and I just read about Hungary Joe. He is a skinny tall guy who has done the most missions and wants to go home, but can't because of Catch-22. He has nightmares every night and keeps the rest of the squad up because of them.
Line- Yossarian is talking to Hungry Joe about his nightmares and Hungry Joe just told Yossarian that there was nothing wrong with having them every night. They all have been through a lot, and don't know how to deal with their emotions: And suddenly it all made sense. Why not every night, indeed? It made sense to cry out in pain every night.

I am reading the novel Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I picked it because it looked interesting and included a lot of history about World War II. It follows a man named Yossarian through his experiences during the war. He just wants to get through it safely, and has fun with his friends in his company. So far he was released from an army hospital and is now moving back in with the rest of his company, and the book is introducing each person. So far, the book is catching my attention and keeping me interested.
January 14, 2011. My favorite books. Many of my favorite books are ones that I read for school. These included To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. I liked these books because I had a chance to discuss them with the class, and I enjoyed reading with others. Some of my other books I liked reading on my free time were the Harry Potter series, and The Lord of the Rings series. I enjoyed these because of the fantasy and the in-depth storyline. Another one of my favorites in H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, because of the science fiction. Some of these books were a little challenging, but once I got into reading them, they turned out to be really great books.
